Fortune’s Choice

Requirements: None

Instructions: Each time you play the Fortune’s Choice mini game in Thieves’ Town, there is a chance one of the three chests you open will contain a Piece of Heart. You can only collect one Piece of Heart in this way.

Turtle Rock

Requirements: Ice Rod

Instructions: This Piece of Heart can be seen outside before entering the dungeon, but cannot be accessed without entering the dungeon. On the first floor, enter the room in the southwest corner. Inside, step into the portals until you reach a lava-filled room. Then, use the Ice Rod to create a path across the lava, and exit the dungeon. When you exit, you will be on the small island containing the Piece of Heart.

Northern Thieves’ Town

Requirements: Merge

Instructions: There is a Piece of Heart observable outside the northern-most building in Thieves’ Town (the northern-most building is Sahasrahla’s house in Hyrule). This building is separated from the rest of the town and must be accessed through a separate portal (the portal to Lorule on the help side of Sahasrahla’s house in Kakariko Village is the closest).

One element from the Zelda series that has remained largely unchanged across its lifetime is the Heart Piece - collectibles that raise Link's health pool, and are always a little tricky to obtain. That's especially true in A Link Between Worlds, and today, we'll be going over the 10 hardest to find Heart Pieces in that game.

10 Fortune's Choice

First up is the Fortune's Choice minigame which isn't hard so much as it is time consuming and costly. This diversion costs Link 200 rupees a play and lets you three chests from a wide array, each of which has a chance of containing a prize.

Lorule

Piece of Heart #17 - Thieves' Town

This is found in the Fortune's Choice game on the east side of town. As this is a game of chance, there's no real strategy we can give you. Just keep at it until you open a chest with this inside.

Piece of Heart #18 - Rupee Rush

The Rupee Rush game exists in Lorule too. This time, you have to get 200 Rupees to earn a Piece of Heart as a prize.

Piece of Heart #19 - Octoball Derby

The Octoball Derby game is found directly south of the Vacant House (Link's House equivalent). This tricky game has you batting balls at pots and birds on a baseball diamond. Score 100 points (it's tough to do) to earn a Piece of Heart.

Piece of Heart #20 - South Lorule

For the next Piece of Heart, you'll need to use the Bomb Flower. To access it, you must pay a one-time fee of 200 Rupees to the Bomb Shop Man at the Bomb Flower Store directly south of Thieves' Town.

Pieces of Heart

  1. After you get the Power Gloves, you can pick up the rocks in northwest Kakariko Village and drop into the well to get the Piece of Heart at the top. Or you can use a cucco to float into that well.
  2. Play the Cucco Game south of Kakariko until you complete the Rooster level.
  3. In the sewers that lead to the Sanctuary, there is a piece of heart that you can reach after you can merge with walls.
  4. Go to the Blacksmith's house and merge with the east wall. You can walk behind the house, pop out and go north to get a Piece of Heart.
  5. There is a piece of heart that you can see in the northwest woods. You can only get to it by merging with the wall north of that piece of heart.
  6. Using Zora's Flippers, get in the water south of Zora's Domain and go south down the waterfall. In the cave behind the waterfall, you find a piece of heart.
  7. There is a piece of heart to the right of Hyrule Castle. You can reach it after you get the Power Glove.

    Enemies have a nasty habit of killing Link in Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.  The best way to prevent this from happening (or simply delaying the inevitable) is to find Pieces of Heart scattered throughout the adventure. Collect four pieces to add one Heart to Link’s life bar. With 28 pieces total, you can add up to eight Hearts. Finding them will take a while, but you can save some time with this guide.

    Kakariko Village

    Piece of Heart #1: Beat the Cucco Ranch mini-game in the Rooster level. 

    Piece of Heart #6: You’ll find it inside of a small cave in the northwest corner of the village. Throw small rocks above the cave, then jump from the ledge to land in the hole. 

    Piece of Heart #8: Achieve the high score in the Rupee Rush mini-game. 

    Piece of Heart #15: You receive this from a young woman. Merge and slip through a fissure in Thieve’s Town to access her locked house.

    Hyrule Castle

    Piece of Heart #2: It’s behind the Blacksmith’s Forge. You must merge around the building.
