Monster Hunter World - How to Trap a Monster
A lot of new hunters are joining the good fight in Monster Hunter: World and all of them are eager to venture out into the Ancient Forest (and beyond) and capture their first monster. Capturing a large monster in Monster Hunter: World can be a bit challenging for players just joining the series, but by knowing what to look for, every hunt can end in a successful capture.
How Monsters Behave
Knowing how a monster behaves is the first step in knowing how to successfully capture a monster. In Monster Hunter: World, monsters are a whole different kettle of fish compared to bosses in other games. One of the major differences players will need to become acquainted with is that these monsters do not display a health bar and won’t endlessly attack players until one or the other is dead. In saying that, there are plenty of giant monsters that will absolutely one-shot any player that isn't careful.

Trap Tools are a Material and a Pouch Item in Monster Hunter World (MHW). These useful parts are collected by Hunters to craft new Items, and can be brought along on hunts in the Item Pouch.
A must-have item for putting together pitfall traps and other kinds of traps.
Trap Tools serve only as crafting ingredients in making Shock Traps and Pitfall Traps. Unlike regular Material Items, Trap Tools can be brought to the field in the Item Pouch to enable crafting on the fly.

Trap Tools can be obtained by purchasing them from the Provisions Stockpile in Astera for 200 Zenny. Additionally, Quests with a Capture objective will include a Trap Tool in the Campsite Supply Box, along with several EZ Tranq Bombs.

I personally capture the vast majority of Monsters, not only because it rewards me more materials, saves a bit of time, but also because it is what I like to do.
