AQHA Adds $10,000 in Side Pots to BBR World Finals and World Show Direct Qualifying Invitational

The American Quarter Horse Association is excited to offer $10,000 in side pots at the 2024 Better Barrel Races World Finals April 23-28 at the OKC Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City.

The World Finals Races will offer $8,000 total in added money, with $4,000 added to Race 1 in the Jim Norick Coliseum and $4,000 added to Race 2 in Barn 6. The total side pot entry fee is $80 with 75% payback of entry fees and 100% payback of added money.

Futurity-race side pot entries are $50 and give $2,000 added to futurity average money and 75% payback of entry fees; 100% of added money will be paid back.

Competitors can enter the side pot at the AQHA On-Site Member Services booth by 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, OR before their first run, whichever comes first. To enter, the competitor must be a current AQHA member and the horse must be registered with AQHA. The entry fee must be paid in cash.

The American Quarter Horse Association is proud to offer a $6,000 side pot at the 2021 Better Barrel Races World Finals April 21-25 at the OKC Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. AQHA On-Site Member Services will also be available to assist you with your AQHA business.

Open-race side pot entry fees are $80 and will offer $2,500 added in the Coliseum for the World Finals race; $2,500 added in Barn 6 for the World Finals race; and 75% payback.

Futurity-race side pot entries are $50 and offer $1,000 added to futurity average money and 75% payback.

Exhibitors can enter the side pot at the AQHA On-Site Member Services booth. To enter, the exhibitor must be a current AQHA member and the horse must be registered with AQHA. The entry fee is payable in cash only.

RV Hookups

VIP & Premium RV Lots - There are reserved spaces in the VIP North Lot (on the north end of Barn 9) and in the Premium West Lot (immediately south of railroad tracks) that are reserved and managed by BBR. These spaces are paved spaces with full (50 amp power/water/sewer) hookups. There is currently a significant waiting list for these spots. To be added to the waiting list, email your name and phone number to Steven@betterbarrelraces.com, and we will contact you if a space becomes available.

Standard RV Lot - There are approximately 300 spots available in the standard South Lot. These spaces are power (30 or 50 amp)/water only hookups on gravel and/or grass located in south of the railroad tracks just off May Ave. These spots are available via the OKC Fairgrounds and can be purchased onlineHERE.

The BBR World Finals offers something for everyone! Below is a list and description of races. Please see the Event Schedule and the Rules & Conditions (above) for details. Entry forms are available below.

  • BBR World Finals Races - The $100,000 Added Main Event!! Entry includes two qualifying races and the BBRWF Short Go for those that qualify. Competition takes place in the Coliseum Arena and the Performance Arena. These races are open only to 2024 members meeting the qualification requirements.
  • Gold Card Race - This $5,000 Added race is a special event with saddles and additional prizes up for grabs! You must be a current BBR Gold Card member during the event, but did not have to qualify for the BBRWF Races. It runs - along with entries in the Youth and New Member/Non-Qualifier races - in the Barn 8 Arena.
  • Youth Race - This $2,500 Added race is for kids 12 & under! A cu

    A group of local teenagers with aspirations of becoming professional barrel racers will go to Oklahoma City, Okla., next month where each will compete in the Better Barrel Races (BBR) World Finals in the youth division.

    The girls are Kelsey Stum, a Hillsboro High School sophomore; Maiya Green, a Northwest High School freshman; Bailey Gibson, a Seckman High School sophomore; and Riley Shaw-Allen, an eight-grader at Riverbend Middle School in Pacific.

    Maiya said she, Bailey and Riley became friends through the Grubville Saddle Club show, and they met Kelsey through other horse shows. Bailey said they are excited to go to the World Finals and experience it together.

    They will be among more than 1,800 contestants to compete in the April 22-27 World Finals, described as the world’s largest division finals for barrel racers.

    Barrel racing is a rodeo competition event, mostly for females, in which a mounted rider makes a series of quick, sharp turns around three barrels in a cloverleaf pattern. The competitor with the fastest time wins.
