Columbus 2020 to Be Honored at CCWA Awards Ceremony

Columbus, OH – Columbus 2020, the economic development organization for the 11-county Columbus Region, will be recognized as the “International Organization of the Year” at the Columbus Council on World Affairs’ (CCWA) 2018 International Awards Ceremony, which will be held on May 3 at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus. The annual event recognizes companies and individuals that have made outstanding contributions to global education and inclusiveness in the Columbus community.

“We are delighted to recognize Columbus 2020 and the long-term impact they’ve had in making our region more globally competitive. And, to be able to honor our Global Scholars Diploma students, who represent the future, most globally prepared, workforce talent creates an incredible opportunity for our global community to come together as we seek to become America’s most globally fluent region,” said Patrick Terrien, president & CEO, CCWA.

Solution Snapshot

Need
Columbus Council on World Affairs, CCWA, had a need to incorporate e-learning to support their  mission to increase global awareness in the Columbus area and a vision “to be the leading nonpartisan, globally-focused organization in the Columbus Region,”   

Solution
CCW partnered with Franklin University to design and develop e-learning courses and videos that support CCWA and their partner organizations in the central Ohio area.

Results
The following courses were developed:

  • A self-paced e-Learning course, Global Fluency: Building Self and Cross-Cultural Understanding.
  • A self-paced online course, Global Agriculture Trade.
  • Two career videos that focuses on soybeans and their economic impact across the world. 

Solution Details

Based on global competencies endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education, CCWA leveraged the instructional design capabilities of Franklin University the following were developed:

2019 International Awards Ceremony Event Collateral

The International Awards Ceremony is the Council’s biggest event of the year and 2018 had a register attendance. We updated the glance of the event envelope, one-pagers, membership envelope, mission card, sponsor poster and presentation slides and reformatted the program to form 2018 stand out from previous years. The rejuvenated design features gradations and graphic line elements from the Global Fluency Institute website and 2018-2019 The Global Report – both of which were announced at the event. We refreshed the design in 2019 and added a table card for attendees to acquire involved.

Global Report

The Global Report is released biennially by the Columbus Council on World Affairs to provide the community with a snapshot of the city’s global connections. We used infographics throughout this document to highlight the global fluency of the Greater Columbus region in a way that is easy to perceive . The Council is a non-partisan, non-profit organization founded in 1975 by twelve forward-thinking individuals representing a cross-section of our community: business, academic and civic.

To increase global awareness in the Columbus Region.

To be the leading nonpartisan, globally-focused organization in the Columbus Region. The Council fosters a community that is well-informed about critical international issues as they affect the world, nation and the local region, and whose citizens utilize this insight to make effective decisions in our global society.
