- Why did you decide to apply for the TLE Seal?
Data privacy and information security are critically important in our world today, especially in the data-rich school district environment. We must protect the digital identities of our students. The five practice areas within the Trusted Learning Environment speak directly to the elements a school district needs to have in place in order to effectively provide information security and data privacy. Having spent the last five years focusing intently on advancing the district’s information security posture, the TLE was the utopian next step to deeply analyze how we were doing, enhance where needed, and publicly observe our successes. Why Your District Should Consider Applying for the Trusted Learning Environment (TLE) Seal
by Tim McIlvain, Executive Director of the Learning Technology Center
Student data privacy might not sound like the kind of thing that gets you out of bed in the morning, but it can seriously transform district operations. Imagine parents in your community knowing their child’s data is handled with the same care you’d use for a winning lottery ticket—safe, secure, and definitely respected. That level of trust can be achieved through CoSN’s Trusted Learning Environment (TLE) Seal. More than just a badge, the Seal is your district’s way of saying, ‘We take student data as seriously—no shortcuts, no compromises.’
The TLE Seal symbolizes a deep commitment to protecting student information—demonstrating that your district values privacy, transparency, and security at every level. Developed in collaboration with education technology leaders across the country, it focuses on five critical areas: Leadership, Business, Data Security, Professional Development, and Classroom Practices. Pursuing the TLE Seal involves more than compliance; it fosters a cult

Meet The Learning Experience
The Learning Experience (TLE) is a leading provider of early childhood education, serving children from 6 weeks to 6 years. Based in South Florida, TLE operates 410 centers across the U.S., combining corporate-owned locations with a large and growing network of franchises. Since launching in 2002, TLE has built a reputation for high-quality education, vibrant classrooms, and lovable brand characters that bring learning to life.
The challenge: Simplifying communication
Scaling fast while staying personal
As a high-growth organization, TLE wanted to preserve a “stay small” mentality — where every employee, no matter their role or location, felt connected and heard.
Disconnected communication channels
Roughly 90% of TLE’s 10,000+ employees work in franchise-operated centers, many as classroom teachers without access to email or traditional desk-based tools. Communications were often sent to franchisees or center leaders with the hope they would trickle down — but there was little oversight or consistency.
Why Blink: Information at employees’ fingertips
TLE needed an internal communications platform that was mobile-first, fle
